LSI SAS RAID Controller/ HBA Information
It is available in lsisaa2008 packages repository too. However, they are all 1 lane cards. It is better to check after a reboot. Rosewill HBA based on this chip: Is this a strange way or the usual way of preparing the disks. How do I activate support for these chips back?
Drive Spin Down Support: I found it to be a good way to leave room for expansion later on if you are looking for something kinux expensive in a server build. Monitoring hardware RAID: LSI SAS 2008 controller, OMSA
However, LSI provides a lsisas200 line management tool named sas2ircu. I have seen the LSI before and it’s capabilities and driver support looked quite similar to the Adaptec. We’re going to enable an enhanced version of readahead: They have, amongst others, an ‘archttp’ module which enables a web interface! OpenSolaris ahci driver does not support that chipset yet.
Most motherboards have up to 4 or 6 onboard ports be sure to always enable AHCI mode in the BIOS as it is the best designed hardware interface that a chip can present to the OS to enable maximum performancebut for more than 4 or 6 disks, there are surprisingly not that many choices of controllers.
